Life is priceless

I work in the ER and yesterday I had a patient die. This happens quite often here where I work, but I was touched by this one in particular. While I was doing chest compressions on a person that I didn't know I started thinking of loved ones he had. This patient laid lifeless on a table with multiple members of the healthcare team fighting to get his heart to beat on its own once again. He had family, friends and a wife that loved him and would miss him very much.
I left that day knowing we had done our best, but still in sorrow for a family who had lost someone. This was the first time I had left work crying, but I know that this and all other experiences in the ER will make me a better person. They make me think of my own family and friends and how much I appreciate and love them. Life is taken for granted, one day you are at work/school/home and in a split second someone you love could be gone. I hope this experience will make me spend everyday to the fullest and appreciate the support I have from loved ones.

Girls Camp

I thought I'd just post a few pictures from Becca's BYU-football "girls camp" she recently went to. For a measley few dollars, Becca spent the evening running drills on the field, mingling with coaches and players, visiting the locker room, and 'chalk talk'ing about future opponents. Over 500 ladies attended the event, one of which told Becca that she and her husband had named their 3 kids after former players. Wow...and I thought I was a die hard.Becca went to the clinic with her mom (Lori) and sister (Vicki), here pictured hammering it out on the 'line sled.'
Here the girls appear to be becoming more educated on some offensive philosophy from Coach Anae. During the X's and O's chalk talk, Becca asked the Coach to diagram the famous Beck-to-Harline game winner against Utah a couple of years ago.Becca came home not only with some goodies (poster, media guide, stickers, t-shirt) but also with gushing enthusiam for the upcoming season.Needless to say it was a proud moment of mine (sniff sniff)Here they are with Heach Coach Bronco Mendenhall. Anticipating a great season this year! BYU starts the season nationally ranked, and projected by many to run the table undefeated. The first game is next saturday (August 30th) in Provo against Northern Iowa.

Summer Snippits

Becca has been working at the Hospital in the ER and loves it! (Even the night shifts)
We've been boating a few times, here during the Allridge family reunion on Utah lake.
"Nephew Night" with the Jacobson-side cousins. We hit up nicklecade and of course played football.
Nephew Night w/the Welch-side cousins. We slept in the tent out back and played games.
We saw David Archuletta and others LIVE when the American Idols came on tour
Our garden has been AWESOME. Becca has been making some great Zucchini/chocolate chip bread...mmmmm....

Don't Mess with the Zohan / Spencer

This is a picture of my uncle spencer who I think looks just like Adam Sandler.

Adam and I just got back from moab. We biked the slick rock practice trail and man was it a good work out. We camped nearby with our tent and Adam made some amazing pancakes for breakfast. It was a blast and we know we will keep this trip as a yearly tradition for the welch fam!
