NEWPORT- We took the girls to the OSU aquarium, which was a delight. They had a lot of interactive things for the girls and we even got to see an octopus that was totally awake and moving around. Livy liked any button she could push, or fuzzy she could touch , or really just running around.
DEPOT BAY- We were able to go on a whale watching trip and had a blast! Olivia and Adam saw whales in the wild ocean for the first time. I couldn't believe how close we got to them and how many we could see. This time of year there are multiple grey whales that migrate right off the coast. The boats didn't have to go that far off coast and we were able to spot them pretty fast. You would first see the blow of the snout then you would see the body with them going back into the water with their fin slapping. We definitely want to take our kids back here every year, so much fun!
LICOLN CITY-One thing we have thoroughly enjoyed about Oregon is there Outlets!!! Yes siree, they are amazing and we have spent too much money at them all. This quiant little beach town has some of the best outlets around. Adam has his nike-boy stores and I have my kids-fashion stores, it could not be more perfect! We were able to stop in and enjoy a few hours of kid strollin fun!
Surfside INN- We were within walking distant from the beach and right in a little town. We bought groceries before we got there and was able to spend a relaxing few days in a nice condo with a great pool that Olivia absolutely had a blast in. We enjoyed all the time we could get on the beach. The first day it was so warm and Olivia enjoyed playing with her toys in the sand for hours. We noticed people were driving on the beach and was amazed to find that on the Washington Pennisula the beach is a state highway from Nov-march. It even has rules and speed limits! It just so happened we were there the last week it was legal to drive on the beach. This was really Adam's highlight of the trip and he even mentioned it was one of his "bucket list" things to do. Adam did great driving in the surf, even with my hesitation at times. We parked the car in the sand and would enjoy watching the waves crash in with a comfortable spot to sit. We did a great sand castle, Adam and Olivia worked hard together to make it big enough that we could drive over it with triumph!! The second day we were there it was chilly and windy, which was perfect for our kite we just bought. We eventually had to come back to reality, but we sure did not want our paradise to end!!
TILLAMOOK- Who wants the best cheese in the valley!! Tillamook has a well known cheese factory and we were able to get a tour of the entire thing, not to mention taste all the cheese:) We had the best meal there and ended with an amazing ice cream cone. The only problem with this place was that there were too many Ice cream choices...it made our life so hard to choose between them:) We even got to go in one of the only Air Museums on the West Coast. It had fighter planes from WWII, lets just say Adam was in Heaven!!
